Adult Summer Series: Clothed in Christ

ADULT SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL
Clothed in Christ: How the resurrection shapes our relationships in a divided world.

Summary: Paul uses the image of “putting on” the new self, which is affected by the resurrection and growing in the likeness of our creator. The characteristics he names are the natural outpouring of our resurrection-shaped lives and have implications for our relationships.

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,   bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”  Colossians 3:12-14

Each week, we’ll explore one of the named characteristics and an applicable real-life situation.

June 2    Put on Compassionate Hearts when engaging withothers about the most divisive topics.

June 9    Put on Kindness directed toward people you know and people you don’t know.

June 16    Put on Humility in the political arena.

June 30    Put on Patience in our relationships with children and people who act like them.

July 7    Put on Forbearance, carrying the weaknesses of our aging friends.

July 14    Put on Forgiveness in impossible situations.

July 21    Put on Love in all things.
