I write to you after a campfire with all the trimmings! It is hot here in Bethelwoods, but an evening worship service just isn’t the same without a campfire. A campfire is a special touch to help us call ourselves into worship by the lake. We sang “Oceans”, “Sanctuary”, “Blessed Be the Name”, and “Kum Ba Ya” tonight. Camp is good.
What I really love about camp though is the way the kids lean in and join in as they worship. They nod their head, raise their hands, and offer commentary throughout the sermon. For example, tonight when I shared about Jesus dwelling in their hearts, a brand new first time camper yelled out, “ME TOO!!!” Yep buddy, you too.
Being Camp Pastor means I get to be part of sharing God’s awesome Word in the morning and at night with campers and staff. It also means I get to see the Gospel through their eyes. God is good indeed!
With Joy and Hope,
