This Sunday during the 11:00 worship service, Priscilla Holtzclaw will be commissioned as a lay pastor, serving Westminster on a part-time basis for the three months of my sabbatical.  Priscilla’s journey began years ago when the Session endorsed her to take classes at the South Carolina Lay School.  She graduated in May after engaging in courses on theology, pastoral care, biblical studies, worship, and polity to name a few.  Earlier this month she was examined by the Presbytery’s Commission on Ministry and her covenant with Westminster was approved.

There will be some representatives from our Presbytery present: Rev. Dorothy Blackwelder from the Commission on Ministry and Rev. Dr. Donnie Woods, General Presbytery is preaching. They will lead us through the commissioning service during worship, and we’ll have the chance to thank God for his goodness, pray for the church, and commission Pastor Priscilla for her work among us.  This is a good moment in the life of the church to celebrate God’s good faithfulness to the church and to Pastor Priscilla!

With much love,

Pastor Daniel
