Hurricane Florence Communication #4

Saturday Morning

It a little wet and a little windy in Charleston, and it looks like we have been spared the worst of the storm.  By tomorrow morning, Hurricane Florence will have moved on, and we’ll be able to gather together and offer aid to those who need it most.

  1. We’ll have a regular morning schedule for Sunday 9/16. 8:45 Worship; 9:45 Sunday School; 11:00 Worship.  Come as you are; children are included in worship (No Children’s Church or Wee Church). A nursery is available.  Youth Group will meet as planned in the afternoon; Session and Diaconate meetings are postponed until the 23rd.
  1. Wondering what to do with those unused hurricane supplies? First Scots Presbyterian is collecting supplies to provide to victims of Hurricane Florence through friends in Wilmington, NC.  You are invited you to bring the following items: batteries, NEW blankets, NEW towels, toiletries/hygiene items, diapers, formula, water, first aid items, cleaning supplies, wipes, Shockwave Cleaning product, canned goods, pet food, food cards, gas cards, lanterns, box fans, utility knives, leather work gloves and hand sanitizer. Bring them to Covenant Hall Sunday morning or anytime Monday.

Today and tomorrow, please continue to use good judgment in the storm, and reach out to your neighbors to provide assistance as you’re able.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Daniel

Hurricane Florence Communication #3

Tuesday Afternoon

Dear Friends,

This beautiful Tuesday afternoon, many are busy with final preparations and evacuations before the arrival of Hurricane Florence.  While still expected to make landfall in North Carolina, the effects will reach down into Charleston County.  Please be prepared and be safe.

The church property is secure (Thank you volunteers), and all Westminster people are accounted for as far as we know.  The Church Office will be closed the rest of the week.  After the storm, the Deacons will again be reaching out to assess needs.

While it is still too early to predict, I expect we will resume a regular schedule on Sunday. We will be in touch via email, Facebook, and the church webpage to confirm those plans when they are finalized.

In these last hours leading up to the bad weather, remember to reach out to your neighbors and friends and offer prayer for those in the direct path of the storm.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Daniel
