Recently I’ve been arrested by the little known Christmas hymn, In the Bleak Midwinter.
Much of the hymn expounds the beauty of the incarnation, but this last verse calls us to consider our response.
“What can I give him poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd I would bring a lamb
If I were a wise man I would do my part
Yet; What I can I give him; Give my heart.”
In the days leading up to Christmas, I invite you to take time to think of the ways you have already and can continue to express gratitude for the gift of a Savior. God has provided his very best. What do we offer in return?
If you’re interested, here’s a video of the hymn by some excellent musicians, Keith and Kristyn Getty. www.gettymusic.com/in-the-bleak-midwinter/
May his peace be yours,
